EUROPE’S MEDIALAB (Fondation EURACTIV) is a “THINK-and-DO TANK” for the health of the media sector in Europe, also ‘reconnu d’utilité publique, with a strong board and Senior Fellows. It is a continuing member of the EURACTIV Media Network, with even greater autonomy now that the Founder is not directly involved in EURACTIV.
THINK:
- Advocates EU policies for media independence, sustainability pluralism and language diversity in Europe see notably these OpEds, co-signed by its Founder, with other stakeholders.
- one example of policy event we organise
DO:
- Train and exchange for media innovation: Stars4Media EU project (see current 29 media winners)
- Additional Stars4media programmes being decided soon (see post and survey on Linkedin profile of founder)
- Cooperate with media and civil society to fight populism and Brexit-like situations.
To strengthen our management, and diversify programmes, we are currently selecting a Director:

Job Description:
- Grow high-level contacts and help coordinate with EURACTIV network and other stakeholders
- Represent the MediaLab in consortium meeting regarding Stars4media NEWS
- Help the Founder and the Secretary General conceive other projects, based on the strong Stars4media brand and track record of the MediaLab,
- Supervise MediaLab’s own communication
- Over time: prepare to take over the Executive role of the Chairman (remaining founder)
Main tasks include:
- Support high-level contacts and networking
- Developing presentations & proposals
- Keep track of ongoing projects with key stakeholders
- Support preparation, implementation and follow-up of Board and Advisory Council Meetings
- Help coach part of the team, leveraging own time
Profile:
- 10 to 20 years experience in project management / associations / Media. Juniors need not apply, thanks.
- Proven engagement in line with MediaLab’s and EURACTIV’s values
- knowing the media sector (former journalist?) and/or EU Policy in Brussels (NGO leadership?)
- Excellent organizational skills, pro-active communicator, diplomatic approach
- Experience with MS Office and social media
- Perfectly fluent in French and English (oral & written), preferably one of them native level
- Entrepreneur mindset (open to working as independent contractor (this is a near full-time activity, with scope for other side activities)
- Indispensable: Brussels location
