The VA Black Hills Health Care System (VA BHHCS) is located in the beautiful Black Hills of western South Dakota, where we are known for our blue skies, pine forests, rich history, moderate climate and friendly western hospitality. VA BHHCS provides primary and secondary medical and surgical care, along with residential rehabilitation treatment program (RRTP) services, extended nursing home care and tertiary psychiatric inpatient care services, for veterans residing in South Dakota and portions of Nebraska, North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. Care is delivered through the Fort Meade (near Sturgis) and Hot Springs VA Medical Centers, as well as through a number of community-based outpatient and rural outreach clinics. The psychiatrist will provi! de outpatient care in the Mental Health Clinic to veterans with a variety of diagnoses. He/she will also work with a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide care to veterans participating in residential programs in the 100-bed Domiciliary. There will also be some consultation/liaison work with the adjacent hospital/nursing home/primary care clinic. On-call coverage for the entire VA Black Hills Health Care System is shared with all full-time psychiatrists (6 others) and is generally by phone consultation with the ER/Urgent Care. Weekend rounds on the 10-bed inpatient psychiatric unit are included in the on-call rotation. These rounds may be done via telepsychiatry depending on where the psychiatrist chooses to live.
THIS POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. Citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit ! qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
