Full-Time Staff Psychiatrist
The position will include diagnostic assessments, medication management, and the opportunity to provide evidence-based psychotherapies for PTSD. Training in the various evidence-based psychotherapies will be provided, if needed. Work is performed in the context of a multidisciplinary treatment team, including a midlevel provider to be supervised by the psychiatrist. On-call duties will be shared with 3 other psychiatrists. Night call is generally light and managed by telephone consultation with the ER providers; weekend rounds on the inpatient psychiatric unit (avg census of 3.7) would be approximately once per month. Opportunity to teach third and fourth year medical students is available.

The VA Black Hills HCS (VA BHHCS) is located in the beautiful Black Hills of western South Dakota, where we are known for our blue skies, pine forests, rich history, moderate climate and friendly western hospitality. VA BHHCS provides primary and secondary medical and surgical care, along with residential rehabilitation (RRPT) services, extended nursing home care and tertiary psychiatric inpatient care services, for Veterans residing in South Dakota and portions of Nebraska, North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. Care is delivered through the Fort Meade (near Sturgis) and Hot Springs VA Medical Centers, as well as through a number of community-based outpatient and rural outreach clinics. VA Black Hills is part of the VA Midwest Health Care Network (VISN 23).
