Pediatric Pulmonology
Sanford Children’s Specialty Clinic, a multi-specialty pediatric clinic and the Sanford School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics are seeking a third BC/BE pediatric pulmonologist to join two other BC pediatric pulmonologists in a well-established, full range practice. The patient population presents with a large need for asthma, cystic fibrosis and sleep apnea services. The group serves a population base of over one million throughout South Dakota, NW Iowa and Southern Minnesota, as well as Northern Nebraska.
Sanford Children’s Specialty Clinic consists of 24 pediatric sub-specialists, including pediatric critical care, pediatric surgery, along with pediatric cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, genetics, and neurology. One pulmonologist is also BC in sleep with an accredited pediatric sleep lab. Ancillary services include respiratory therapy, dieticians, child life specialists, pediatric psychology and psychiatry services. Clinical academic appointment is offered through the USD School of Medicine.
Sanford Children’s is in the process of building a new, regional children’s hospital. The first phase in this building project was completed in June, 2006 with the opening of the state-of-the-art Boekelheide NICU with 45 private family suites. Groundbreaking for the next phase of the children’s hospital building project was celebrated in May, 2007, with anticipated opening in 2009. Once completed, the new children’s hospital will provide 120 beds solely dedicated to caring for children.
Sanford Children’s Hospital is the flagship pediatric provider for Sanford Health, a large regional health provider that recently received a gift of $400 million dollars from well known philanthropist T. Denny Sanford. A significant portion of these funds are earmarked for pediatric care to enhance its mission of clinical service, education, and research. The children’s hospital is rapidly growing and provides a rich fertile environment for those interested in joining an energetic and supportive faculty.
