DEPARTMENT: Health Information Management

NATURE OF POSITION: The Health Information Management Scanner is an integral member of the interdisciplinary health team and assumes responsibility for medical records maintenance according to the departmental guidelines.

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Director of Health Information Management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Knowledge of scanning and computers.

  • Self-motivated and organized with a flexible approach.

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a high-volume department and prioritize accordingly.

  • Must always maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Phone etiquette.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and/or lift for extended periods of time.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Scan, verify, and upload documents into appropriate database.

  • Scan files and organize files in an effective manner.

  • Protects the confidentiality of patients and their records at all times by complying with The Clinic’s Patient Confidentiality and HIPAA policies and procedures.

  • Perform scanning and data entry.

  • Responsible for proper maintenance of medical records.

  • Maintains a close working relationship with staff.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively with co-workers.

  • Performs other related duties of the department as directed by Director of Health Information.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
