The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Full-time , Permanent, Registered Nurse-Clinical Educator . This position will be located in the Education Service . Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team. As a Registered Nurse-Clinical Educator you! will provide clinical education including orientation, CPR, ACLS, and ! simulation education. Some of the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Clinical Education Classes: Serve as an expert resource in clinical practice.
Coordinate/teach nursing orientation classes, dysrhythmia, patient sitter classes, etc.
Provide training on clinical topics and new medical equipment through inservices, competency fairs, etc.
Serve as a member of the Nurse Practice Committee.
Simulation Program: Serve as an expert resource on clinical simulation.
Integrate simulation training into interdisciplinary employee education and continuing education.
Ensure that simulation equipment is operational and be able to perform basic troubleshooting.
Participate in professional development activities to enhance simulation education.
Serve as a member of the VISN23 Simulation Committee.
Serve as an expert resource for the delivery of CPR & ACLS Classes.
Develop an annual CPR & ACLS Calendar bas! ed on the number of employees required to take these classes.
Coordinate/teach CPR & ACLS Instructor Classes.
Assure that American Heart Association Guidelines/REdI (Resuscitation Education Initiative) are followed, monitor, audit and track completion of classes.
Serve as an expert resource for nursing professional development.
Coordinate the RN Residency Program for new graduate nurses.
Coordinate nurse preceptor classes.
Assure own professional development through certification, ongoing continuing education activities, and involvement in professional organizations.
Accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade
NOTE: Assignment to other areas of the service line, medical center, or other CBOC's may be required. The Registered Nurse reports to the Education Service Manager and works in collaboration with his/her assigned CORE team, however, assignments may be made to oth! er areas for purposes of cross coverage.
Work Schedule:! The tour of duty for this position is days. Weekends and evenings may be required to provide training.
Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizen of the United States.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an appr! oved school of professional nursing.
Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy. Experience as an RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. The criteria are as follows: Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization, Professional Development: performance, education/career development, Collaboration: collaboration, collegiality, Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research.
Education/Experi! ence Minimum Requirements:
• Nurse I Level I - An Associate De! gree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
• Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience.
• Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
• Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requireme! nts for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience.
• Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work requires some standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying of light items. The work requires agility and dexterity and may require heavy lifting of training equipment.
