U. S. Citizenship DUTIES:
The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Full-time , Permanent, Physical Therapist . This position will be located in the Extended Care & Rehab Service Line. As a Physical Therapist, you are responsible for the following duties to include, but not limited to:
Work effectively with treatment team members, patients, patients' family/significant others, and other health care providers in coordinating the patients' total care.
Effectively communicates in the clinical medical record and other written and/or oral sources to promote positive communication, co! llaboration and teamwork.
Uses standard and non-standard methods an! d techniques for evaluating and interpreting a wide variety of physical and psychosocial functional levels and for providing progressive treatment.
Develops and initiates new treatment programs which apply current research findings.
Reads and interprets consults to identify necessary elements and determine appropriatemess of referral for assessment and evaluation of patients.
Develops and implements individualized physical therapy treatment programs for patients when clients may have a functional limitation or disability or may be at risk for a disabling condition.
Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is rotating shifts, Monday-Friday and Rotating Weekends. Holidays and Weekends will be required. Nights and evenings may be required.
Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Requirements:
Citizen of the United States.
E! ducation: Graduate from a degree program in physical therapy from an approved college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The CAPTE is the only accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit entry-level physical therapy programs.
Licensure. Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Grade Requirements:
GS-7: None beyond the basic requirements.
GS-9: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, candidates must have 1 year of post degree progressively responsible experience equivalent to the next lower grade or a master's degree in physical therapy or a directly! related field.
The candidate must also fully demonstrate the KSAOs! below.
Demonstrated KSAOs
1. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, physics, kinesiology, psychology, pathophysiology and surgical procedures as they relate to human function.
2. Knowledge of and ability to apply clinically appropriate assessment techniques and treatment interventions to address human pathophysiology and dysfunction.
3. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professions.
GS-11:
Experience: One (1) year of progressively complex experience and a broader scope of experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-9).
OR
Education: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree; or doctoral degree in physical therapy or a directly related field.
The candidate must also fully demonstrate the KSAOs below.
Demonstrated KSAOs
1. Knowledge of contemporary and evidence-based PT practice.
2. ! Ability to interpret clinician prescriptions and referrals.
3. Skill in communicating, both orally and in writing, with patients, families, caregivers, and other health care professions to facilitate the multidisciplinary treatment process.
4. Skill in utilizing appropriate screening and evaluation techniques required to appropriately provide direct patient care.
5. Knowledge of clinical signs and symptoms to make appropriate referrals for further medical attention/assessment as indicated.

Grade Determinations:
Note: The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11. The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidateÂ's education and experience and recommend the grade from GS-7 to GS-11 and step at which the candidate will be placed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring Veterans and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected Veterans and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to Veterans who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on Veteran needs. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. ! Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
