The South County YMCA currently has Full-time or Part-time positions where you can gain memorable experiences, be a supportive figure in a child's life, join a great team and have fun. The YMCA has openings for enthusiastic and adaptable individuals that are interested in making a difference in the lives of children. Our YMCA staff gain experiences that help them grow as an instructor, as a person and as a professional. Our YMCA Child and Youth Development staff are mentors, teachers and much more.

The YMCA is looking for staff interested in working during the Fall (we do have summer hours available for those that will be working in the fall as well). Below are some of the shifts we are looking to hire for:

  • School year opening shifts- 6:30am to 8:00am
  • School year part time shifts- 1:30pm to 6:00pm
  • School year full-time shifts roughly- 9am to 5:50pm or 6:30a to 8:00am and 11:00am to 6:00pm
  • All shifts are also dependent on the amount of students in the program at any given time.

What you need to apply:

  • Be over the age of 18
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Entry Assistant positions available
  • Experience working with children ages 5-12, in a daycare, after school program or camp is preferred
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) credits or in a related field (Sociology, Psychology, more) for Teacher positions (no credits needed for assistant) When applying please upload any college transcripts you may have

Hiring Criteria: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Education & Certifications:

Assistant: High School Diploma or equivalent, and 6 units in Child Development (for licensed childcare programs) or 48 college units or passing proficiency exam prior to hire for (non-licensed/ASES programs).

Teacher 1: 6 units in Child Development or a related field; and continuous enrollment in a minimum of 2 units per semester toward completion of 12 units required.

Teacher 2: 12 units in Child Development or a related field.

Teacher 3: 12 college units with 6 units in Child Development, Education. 6 units may be in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Physical Education, Art, and Music. 15-hour preventative health practice certifications within 90 days of employment. Complete YMCA Core trainings within first 60 days of employment.

Experience & Background: Must be 18 years of age, 6 months experience working with children preferred. Teacher 1 & 2 6 months working with children required. teacher 3 one year working with children required.
