Mō te tūranga | About the role


Reporting to the Senior Telephonist, you will be responsible for answering internal and external calls, carrying out emergency procedures when required, monitoring alarms and documenting any faults in the phone system. The calls you deal with will vary from emergency calls to general enquiries and you will need to interact with telephone technicians as required to ensure timely fixes for any issues. You will be organised and able to complete data entry and other administration duties associated with the department.


This position is Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 6pm.

Successful candidates will need to be willing and able to greet callers professionally and have the ability to strive for accuracy, all while remaining calm in emergency situations.


Ideally you will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Administrative or customer service skills or qualification.
  • Basic computer knowledge e.g. Data Entry, Word and Email.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer skills and a professional telephone manner.
  • Flexibility and motivation.

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA South Island Clerical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Profile Band 2A between $55,177 and $60,552 p.a dependant on relevant experience.
