More complete informations about this career opportunity kindly see the descriptions. The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System (HCS) is currently recruiting for a Full - time , Permanent, Psychiatrist. This position will serve as the Chief of Mental Health Services . As the Chief of Mental Health Services, you are responsible for the following duties to include, but not limited to:
Principle Duties and Responsibilities :
Plans, develops, and coordinates a broad in-patient and outpatient Mental Health Service which includes psychiatry, ! psychology, addiction treatment, social work, vocational rehab! ilitation, outreach, and homeless staff. Responsibility includes all Mental Health staff and services in the Sioux Falls VA HCS and five affiliated Community Based Outpatient Clinic's (CBOC's).
Essential Administrative/Supervisory Responsibilities
1. Has direct administrative and professional supervision of 15 staff.
2. Has service line administrative and professional supervision/accountability for 55 additional MHSL staff reporting to intermediate supervisors.
3. Responsibilities include supervision of staff, program management, and administrative responsibilities that are complex in scope and that constitute a significant portion of the medical center. MHSL scope of service includes:
a. Secure Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Unit (6 beds)
b. Outpatient Mental Health Clinic
c. Substance Use Disorder, Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program
d. Suicide Prevention Program
e. PTSD Clinical Program
f. Mental Health/Primary Care Integr! ated Clinic
g. Mental Health Military Sexual Trauma Program
h. 5 CBOC's
i. Coordinated Care Home TeleHealth
j. Compensated Work Therapy/Supported Employment
k. Homeless Program
Other Administrative (Supervisory) Responsibilities
1. Responsibilities span Primary Care, Specialty Care, Extended Care and Rehabilitative Services.
2. Has final supervisory responsibility for the provision of mental health services in the Sioux Falls VA HCS, including services conducted by trainees, consultants and para-professional staff, and ensures that all care providers in the MHSL meet the requirements to provide care in their respective professions.
3. Consults with and serves as a resource for other professional staff concerning the need for the development of mental health services.
Clinical Responsibilities
1. Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in p! roviding quality care.
2. Performs consultations, screenings and ev! aluations.
3. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including: individual and group psychotherapy, psychoeducation, treatment planning.
4. Conducts Compensation and Pension Evaluations.
Academic/Teaching/Training
1. Holds a faculty appointment at affiliated universities (University of South Dakota, Psychology Department (adjunct staff) University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine (Assistant Professor)).
2. Provides clinical supervision to various disciplines and levels of training.
3. Is involved in Psychiatry Residency, Social Work Training Program, Psychology Training Program and Training Committee. Is responsible for appointing Psychology Internship Director.
4. Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assists in Mental Health issues.
Research/ Program Evaluation
1. Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs using data-driven quality assuran! ce processes.
2. Is responsible for timely completion of program evaluations and documents required by the Sioux Falls VA HCS, VISN, and VACO, ensuring compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies (i.e., Joint Commission, CARF, APA) and monitoring entities, as appropriate.
3. Consults with others to offer research guidance and to stimulate new research opportunities. Participates in research when opportunities arise.
Other Significant Responsibilities
1. Has contact on a regular and recurring basis with individuals representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view.
2. Serves on Medical Center or healthcare system, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces.
3. Serves on decision-making committees at the Medical Center or Healthcare System.
4. Represents the Medical Center or healthcare system at professional/program community group/events and committees, in conferences/meetings with managers, supervisors, and staf! f from other disciplines or work units, and/or with representatives of ! local public interest groups, congressional district offices, and employees of State and local governments.
Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically Monday - Friday, Days.
