This Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) allows acceptance of applications throughout the year with eligible applicants being placed on the OCA register and referred for consideration as v! acancies occur. Interviews patients and performs psychiatric diagnostic tests and examinations. Provides direct medical services including making preliminary diagnosis and prescribes and provides treatment. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree as: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification! by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).]

In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must possess the following residency experience:
At least three years of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 3-year internship or three years of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training). Include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.

In addition to the basic requirements and residency experience, applicants must possess the following license:
A current, non-temporary, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United ! States.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must de! monstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: managing a multidisciplinary team of professionals and support staff to include planning, directs, and coordinates high quality, comprehensive behavioral health services for inpatient and outpatient of all ages with a wide variety of diagnostic conditions; performing in-depth comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic and treatment services.

GS-14: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or 4 years of residency training in Psychiatry.
SUPERVISORY OR MANAGERIAL ABILITIES: Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess, or have that potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision.

  • Ability to assign to a! nd review work of subordinates, train and work effectively with subordinate from a variety of backgrounds and with different levels/areas of training.
  • Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected within set limits of cost and time.
  • Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively.
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to the work.
  • Ability to understand and further management goals as these affect day-to-day work operations.
  • Ability to develop improvements in or design new work methods and procedures.
This position requires the selected individual to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal! service.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (! status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
