POSITION TITLE: THERAPIST West Oak (exempt)PRIMARY PURPOSE / FUNCTION OF POSITION: Provide therapeutic services to youth involved in the West Oak residential program.REPORTS TO! : West Oak Program DirectorPRIMARY DUTIES: 1. Client ServicesA. Work with the Interdisciplinary Team to develop an individual habilitation plan (IHP) for each participant.B. Provide individual and group counseling services for assigned participants.C.
Review information regarding the social, educational, and emotional histories of each assigned participant.D. Ensure a high level of confidentiality is maintained and that all needed releases are obtained before information is shared.E. Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement effective behavior intervention plan.F. Co-facilitate groups.G.
Participate in staffing with consulting psychiatrist/psychologist.2. Program ManagementA. Provide direction for other residential staff in implementing behavior management plans.B. Review daily logs regarding assigned participants.C.
Ensure consistent and timely communication with Interdisciplinary Team members regarding assigned particip! ants.3. OtherA. Responsible for other duties as negotiated.HOU! RS: 40 hour per week position requiring flexibility, a minimum of one evening per week, and occasional weekend hours.EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIOIN: A Masters degree in counseling, social work, or related human service field and a minimum of two years work experience with adolescent/adults with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors. Excellent communication skills and expertise in counseling, and effective therapeutic techniques required.
Individual must possess the skills to access and treat emotionally disturbed adolescents with developmental disabilities and have an understanding of their developmental needs. Experience with sexuality and abuse issues is strongly preferred. Requires consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in the performance of duties.
