The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Full-time , Permanent, Nurse Manager . This position will be located in the Extended Care & Rehab Service Line, in the Home and Community Based Care (HCBC) unit. The HCBC Nurse Manager at the Sioux Fall! s VAHCS is a unique role. It encompasses the management of staff and re! sources in Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) at 7 locations within a large geographic area (Sioux Falls, SD; Aberdeen, SD; Watertown, SD; Wagner, SD; Sioux City, IA; Cherokee, IA, and Spirit Lake, IA). Staff supervised includes: RNÂ's (in HBPC and Community Health); Social Workers; and Dieticians. The Manager also may provide input to Performance Appraisals of additional HBPC staff who cover HBPC roles on a less than a full-time basis which can include Physical Therapist, Psychologist and Dietician roles.
The Nurse Manager position requires the dedication and commitment of an experienced RN to function in a leadership role that includes but is not limited to:
Travel to locations where HBPC services are provided away from the main SFVAHCS, on a no less than quarterly basis by the Nurse Manager, along with Monthly and as needed Staff and individual meetings via telephonic or V-tel communications. An annual Supervisory Home Visit is done by the manager with each staff HBP! C RN, and with other support staff that make home visits with HBPC as needed.
The Manager meets face-to-face with the Associate Chief of Nursing for Extended Care and Rehab on an as scheduled basis, plus meets with the Community Health Nurse Coordinators on a no less than every two week basis to discuss issues and aid in problem solving.
Active involvement on several committees at a local, regional, and national level either in person locally or on conference calls for those originating from a site other than local campus are included in the expectations of the incumbent.
Attention to detail is needed to maintain strict deadlines for submitting reports in a timely manner.
Directing the clinical services offered by the program to ensure that the program is in compliance with local and national VHA standards and policies as well as accreditation standards for home care organizations.
The development and continued effective functioning of the interdisciplin! ary health care team. The skills, knowledge, and contributions of each ! team member are recognized and utilized.
Collaborating with other HBPC Program Directors, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) leadership and VA Central Office staff on issues of program development.
Providing direction and team leadership.
NOTE: Assignment to other areas of the service line, medical center, or other CBOC's will be required which would involve travel to those sites; off tour supervisory coverage may be required; flexibility in tours and days of week will be required.
Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically Monday - Friday, 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m.
Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizen of the United States.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the! applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Must be profic! ient in spoken and written English.
Applicant's education and ! length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy. Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.

Education/Experience Minimum Requirements:
 Nurse I Level I - An Associate D! egree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
 Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience.
 Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 year's of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 year's of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 year's of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
 Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 year's of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic re! quirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field w! ith no experience.
 Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 year's experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring Veterans and objects may be required.
