U.S. Citizenship. DUTIES:
The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for a full-time , permanent , Midlevel (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner ). This position is located in the Mental Health Service Line at the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System.

The Mid-Level provider is a highly skilled practitioner who has advanced education and clinical training in the diagnosis and management for assessing psychosocial health/illness status of individuals, families, and groups of patients. The Mid-Level provider must have prescriptive authority.

Duties of the Mid-Level Provider are as ! follows, but not limited to:

Able to analyze patient care prob! lems and formulate treatment plans tailored to the needs of the patient; provide preventive patient care measures and educational support to veterans and their families about their medications, illnesses, and treatment. Care is directed toward the age-specific and developmental needs of the patient.

Demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care and a systematic body of knowledge to the diagnosis and treatment of actual or potential health care problems, including syntheses of data, and the use of complex skills and interventions.

Assists in preparation of reports such as management briefing, service evaluations, performance measures, goals and objectives for area of practice and participates in performance improvement activities.

Practices direct and indirect patient care with emphasis on mental health promotion, maintenance, and management of minor acute and stable chronic mental disorders. Prov! ides optimum direct care for selected patients through the application of advanced clinical skills.

Initiates and leads patient groups for patient education and health promotion.

Participates in the development and evaluation of clinical competencies, standards of care, policies, and standards of practice. Develops and evaluates measurable goals and objectives for area of practice and participates in performance improvement. Participates in health care system committees and task forces, project teams and process action teams.

Assess any deviation from normal in emotional, social, or physical parameters and takes steps to implement the appropriate health care plan.

Acts as a consultant within the mental health care setting and/or community related to area of expertise.

Other duties as assigned.

Relocation Expenses : Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

Work Schedule: The tour of! duty is typically a day tour, Monday-Friday. Call rotation and travel ! will be required. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS (Physician Assistant):
U.S. Citizenship.

Proficient in written and spoken English.

Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is a requirement for employment.

A Bachelor's Degree from a PA training program which is certified by the Committee on accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP); OR

Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration (certified by CAAHEP) and a Bachelor's Degree in a health care occupation or health-related science; OR

Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration (certified by CAAHEP) and a period of progressively responsible health care experience such as independent duty medical corpsman, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, medical technologist or medical technician. The duration of approved academic training and health c! are experience must total at least 5 years.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS (Nurse Practitioner):
U.S. Citizenship.

Proficient in written and spoken English.

Possess and maintain a full, active, current, and unrestricted license.

A Master's degree from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission of Collegiate Nursing education (CCNE).

Possess and maintain a full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. NOTE : The certification must be in the specialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected.

GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
The full-time annual salary range for a Physician Assistant is: $57,408 - $89,450.

The full-time annual salary range for a Nurse Practitioner is: $66,125 - $96,361.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work requires some standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying of light items. The work requires agility and dexterity and may require heavy lifting of equipment or patients. In many situations, the duration of the activity (such as most of a workday) contributes to the arduous nature of the job. Duties require extensive periods of standing and walking. Working with patients requires regular and recurring bending, lifting, stooping, stretching, and similar activities.
