DUTIES:
This is a Temporary position not to exceed 13 months, but may be converted to a permanent appointment.
MAJOR DUTIES:
The selected individual for this position will work under the general supervision of the canteen chief. The primary duties of this position include clerical and administrative responsibilities in the canteen administrative office with collateral duties assigned within canteen operations. The selected individual will assist in day-to-day canteen operations as a collateral duty with responsibilities including:
The preparation of retail merchandise, food or supply purchase orders; verifying invoices; and maintaining accurate records of merchandise, food and supplies in-stock inventory.
Maintaining facilities appearance, merchandise/food displays and presentation; stocking and re-stocking shelves; confirming basic stock list (BSL) status; reporting unexplained losses/shortages of cash, funds or assets.
Providing floor coverage as necessary to maintain quality customer service; filling in for associate breaks/leave or other required circumstances.
Safeguarding VCS moneys and assets; complying with established key control and merchandise and cash accountability policies.
Safe operation of canteen vehicles and materials handling equipment.
WORK SCHEDULE: 7:15 AM to 4:15 PM, Monday thru Friday - In November and December a Saturday shift will be required with the same tour of duty.

The selected individual must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). The selected individual must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and apply simple math calculations. The selected individual must demonstrate good customer skills via direct involvement and/or training. The selected individual must have a good working knowledge of retail sale as well as other related duties such as merchandise control, merchandise replenishment, display, housekeeping, and record keeping skills.
PHYSICAL EFFORT : Work requires constant standing, walking, frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and pushing and pulling. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance of lifting devices or other coworkers. Exposure to heat, cold, and inclement weather; temperature extremes; working around wet or slippery floors, or other day-to-day proximity to similar hazards to personal safety.
